Sherwin Williams

Inkwell

SW 6992

Inkwell is a deep near-black with cool undertones blending navy and charcoal into a densely saturated finish. At an LRV of 4, it reflects very little light and is best reserved for accent walls, cabinetry, doors, or exterior trim rather than enclosed small rooms. Its navy-charcoal base shifts slightly depending on light source, reading cooler under fluorescent and warmer under incandescent lighting.

It pairs reliably with Sherwin-Williams Extra White, Agreeable Gray, and Snowbound for sharp contrast, while Uncertain Gray and City Loft offer softer transitions.

Inkwell in Different Light

Light temperature is measured in Kelvin: a warm 2700K bulb pulls colors toward yellow, while 5000K daylight reads cooler and truer. Check the color at the time of day you actually use the room.
