Dress Blues

SW 9176

Dress Blues (SW 9176) is a deep navy with cool gray undertones that give it a restrained, formal quality rather than a bright or electric blue appearance. With an LRV of 5, it absorbs nearly all light and is best reserved for accent walls, exterior shutters, cabinetry, or small rooms where dramatic depth is intended. It reads close to black in low-light conditions.

Alabaster (SW 7008) and Snowbound (SW 7004) provide strong, clean contrast for trim and ceilings. Agreeable Gray (SW 7029) offers a neutral bridge tone, while Indigo Batik (SW 7602) and Distance (SW 6243) extend the blue palette with lighter values.

Dress Blues in Different Light

Light temperature is measured in Kelvin: a warm 2700K bulb pulls colors toward yellow, while 5000K daylight reads cooler and truer. Check the color at the time of day you actually use the room.
