Shrinking Violet

PPG1162-5

Shrinking Violet is a medium blue with a soft violet-gray undertone. The name hides the blue. It can suit a bedroom, office, or bath where a standard blue needs more sophistication.

On walls, the violet side appears most beside crisp white or cool gray. Warm wood and simple metal finishes keep it grounded. In low light, it may settle into denim, so use a larger sample before painting all walls.

Shrinking Violet in Different Light

Light temperature is measured in Kelvin: a warm 2700K bulb pulls colors toward yellow, while 5000K daylight reads cooler and truer. Check the color at the time of day you actually use the room.
