Universal Umber

3003-9B

Universal Umber is a deep taupe brown with a dry, earthy quality. Brown leads. It suits lower cabinets, interior doors, built-ins, or an office wall where black would feel too severe.

Since it lands near LRV 23, it needs lighter surfaces around it to show its undertone. Pair with travertine, aged brass, or wool textiles. Cool white trim can sharpen the brown in a less forgiving way.

Universal Umber in Different Light

Light temperature is measured in Kelvin: a warm 2700K bulb pulls colors toward yellow, while 5000K daylight reads cooler and truer. Check the color at the time of day you actually use the room.
