Purple Rain

PPG1174-6

Purple Rain is a smoky violet-gray with a cool, shadowed cast. The violet-gray base gives quiet depth. Purple Rain works for a guest room, office, or powder room when a plain gray feels too flat.

On a broad wall, the purple is subtle but present. Pair Purple Rain with soft ivory and light wood to keep the room from feeling closed in. In north light, test carefully, because it can turn more charcoal than violet.

Purple Rain in Different Light

Light temperature is measured in Kelvin: a warm 2700K bulb pulls colors toward yellow, while 5000K daylight reads cooler and truer. Check the color at the time of day you actually use the room.
